A passion for visual story telling

This is a collection of photos and illustrations as an effort to practice spontaneous inspiration and to put creativity to use without a business objective.

2012-2013

Colored pencils, pastels, and paint markers on textured black paper.

These drawings were created when I gave birth to my daughter over twelve years ago, as part of a visual story about the interplay between inspiration and innocence.

2008-2012

Nikon D700, continuous lighting, in-camera background. I built and art-directed all sets and wardrobe, and later retouched using Photoshop.

During a period of deep appreciation for Tim Burton's films, I was inspired to shoot and art direct this photo series. This personal project later opened the door to a professional milestone: I had the incredible opportunity to direct and shoot the official imagery for one of Danny Elfman's live performances.

I shot this series between 2008 and 2012, long before AI imagery was part of our daily lives. At the time, I was exploring a popular trend of using heavy contrast to make photos feel more like illustrations.

Looking back, it's fascinating how this aesthetic reminds me of the images AI produces today. It highlights an interesting cultural shift: as we now grapple with the rise of AI, there's a clear swing back towards more natural and organic photography. It feels like a deliberate choice by artists to signal authenticity and reassure the viewer that what they're seeing is real.

2013-2015

Pastel, colored pencil on textured paper, and enhanced in Photoshop.

As a native Colombian, I felt a deep pull in 2013 to witness the profound resilience of the country's Indigenous peoples. This personal quest led me on a four-week journey—two weeks in the Amazon jungle, followed by two at the foot of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. The portraits in this collection are the result of that sabbatical, each a testament to the dignity I was privileged to witness. In shaping the final images, I drew direct inspiration for the color treatment from the intricate art of these communities, which itself is born from the visions experienced during ayahuasca journeys.
